Full alert text as issued
...HIGH RISK FOR EXTREME FIRE BEHAVIOR WITH ANY NEW FIRE STARTS
THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY DUE TO MODERATE TO LOCALLY STRONG SANTA
ANA WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...
.Moderate to locally strong Santa Ana winds will quickly develop
on Thursday, peak Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon,
then weaken through the weekend. Meanwhile, dry air will settle
over the region and dry out any helpful effects of the recent
rains. Fire weather watches are now in effect, which will likely be
upgraded to Red Flag Warnings by Wednesday. Some areas may see Red
Flag conditions linger into Saturday. Interior Santa Barbara and
San Luis Obispo Counties may also see Red Flag conditions on
Friday, and a Fire Weather Watch is being considered.
The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is
in effect from Thursday morning through Friday evening.
* WINDS...Northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 40 to 50
mph. Isolated gusts of 50 to 60 mph possible in the hills.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimums of 5 to 15 percent common.
* IMPACTS...If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorable for
extreme fire behavior which would threaten life and property.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are likely to occur in the coming days. Residents near wildland
interfaces should prepare now on what to do if a wildfire breaks
out. See readyforwildfire.org and wildfirerisk.org for
