About GoCheckMyWeather

GoCheckMyWeather brings the National Weather Service's own products together in one place: live radar, hourly and seven day forecasts, active watches and warnings, hurricane tracking, severe storm outlooks, tides, and river flooding. Alert text appears exactly as the Weather Service issued it.

What this site is, and is not

This site is a presentation of official United States government weather data. It is not a forecasting service: we do not model, predict, adjust, or second-guess anything. The forecasts are the National Weather Service's forecasts. Alert and advisory text renders exactly as issued, with attribution, never paraphrased.

In an emergency, your local officials outrank this site, the apps, and everyone else. Evacuation and shelter decisions belong to your county and city emergency management, and nothing here is a substitute for their instructions.

Where the data comes from

Forecasts, observations, alerts and radar are the National Weather Service's own, taken straight from api.weather.gov and radar.weather.gov. Tropical products come from the National Hurricane Center, severe outlooks from the Storm Prediction Center, and the record of past storms near a location from NOAA's Historical Hurricane Tracks. The "normal and record for today" line uses the Open-Meteo historical archive. Sunrise, sunset and moon phase are computed on your device.

Every card names its source and shows how fresh it is. When a feed is down the card says so rather than guessing, and a failed alert check always sends you to weather.gov, because missing data must never look like an all-clear.

Your location and your privacy
